South Central Internet is excited to be offering StarBand Satellite Internet
Service. This high-speed Internet connection will be available to all of our
customers, not just in certain areas. Many of our customers live in an area that
is limited to dial-up access only. For those that wish to speed up your
downloads satellite Internet is the key. Satellite Internet is very stable and
easy to use as you are always connected, there is no dialing up. There is no need for a
phone line because you will be sending and receiving over your satellite
antenna.
One Antenna,
Two-Way:
StarBand uses a single satellite
dish antenna for receiving AND for sending information\x97no telephone connection
is needed. Plus, the StarBand antenna can accommodate both the Internet and EchoStar's
DISH Network satellite TV programming. StarBand service can bring the Internet
and hundreds of channels of television into your home, all through one dish
antenna.
Always-On Access:
StarBand service features always-on
Internet access, with no wait to reconnect every time you want to surf the web
or check e-mail. You'll stay connected to the Internet via a high-speed link as
long as your computer is on.
High-Speed:
StarBand is great for customers
seeking up to 10 times faster speeds than dial-up can
provide.
Nationwide Availability:
StarBand service is available
virtually everywhere in the continental United States, Alaska and Hawaii, so you
control your Internet access options regardless of how far away you live from
the nearest telephone switch or cable node. Service to

and US Virgin Islands will be
coming soon.

As a StarBand subscriber you will
have the opportunity to be part of a unique satellite multicast network. This
means that in the future, you will be able to direct your PC to receive channels
of high-quality content from top entertainment and information partners,
including MP3 files, software downloads, subscription content and more.
How does it work?
The
StarBand\x99 system consists of a 24" x 36" satellite dish mounted on
or near your home.
The dish must have a clear unobstructed view of the southern sky. Two standard
coaxial cables connect the satellite dish antenna to a PC or a StarBand
satellite modem.
The antenna both sends requests to the Internet and
receives Internet content via the satellite, which is in orbit approximately
22,300 miles above the equator. The satellite communicates with the StarBand hub
facility, which has a direct connection to the Internet.
In
addition to the two-way satellite Internet service, the StarBand system can also
be configured to receive satellite television service from EchoStar's
DISH Network.
Inside
your house, the StarBand system consists of either a satellite modem that
attaches to your home PC through the USB port, or a pre-configured desktop PC
outfitted with a satellite receiver card and a satellite transmitter card. In
both cases, no telephone connection, dial-up account or other Internet service
providers are needed. StarBand does it all for you.

Does StarBand support Microsoft¨ Windows XP?
Yes. StarBand now supports Microsoft Windows XP operating system for the StarBand Model 360 satellite modem. Read below about the requirements before running your StarBand system with the Windows XP operating system.
- StarBand requires that you have at least 128 MB of RAM if usingWindows XP.
- Youmust have the StarBand Model 360 satellite modem.
- Ifyou are performing an upgrade of your existing operating system to WindowsXP, you must uninstall
all versions of StarBand Mission Control software, install Windows XP operating system, and then
re-install the StarBand Mission Control software CD-ROM version 7.05 (which contains software

Do I have to purchase a new PC in order to get the StarBand service?
The StarBand service comes with an external satellite modem that plugs into an Ethernet or USB port.
You do not need to purchase a specially configured PC, but you will need a PC with an Ethernet or
USB port.
What are the minimum requirements for the PC or laptop I intend to connect to the StarBand
modem?
The StarBand Model 360 is a modem-like device that connects to your computer to access the Internet.
In order for the StarBand Model 360 to work properly, your PC or laptop must have the following
minimum requirements:

- 64 MB RAM(128 MB RAM required for Windows XP)
- 120 MB ofavailable hard-drive space
- CD-ROM driveEthernet or USB port required
